RINGWOOD, Australia (September 30, 2026) – Trajan Scientific and Medical (Trajan) announced the launch of CHRONECT™ HDX LC Columns, a new range of analytical columns engineered specifically for low-temperature hydrogen-deuterium exchange mass spectrometry (HDX-MS).
Designed to reduce operating backpressure while maintaining chromatographic performance, CHRONECT HDX LC Columns support faster, more flexible methods, greater workflow robustness and more productive instrument time.
Low-temperature HDX-MS conditions can drive system pressure higher, limiting throughput, method flexibility and instrument capacity. Engineered to provide up to approximately 40% lower backpressure compared with conventional HDX analytical column approaches, CHRONECT HDX LC Columns create additional operating headroom under chilled conditions.
This additional pressure capacity gives laboratories greater flexibility to increase flow rates during cleanup, re-equilibration and separation. The result is the potential for shorter LC run times, more runs per day and better utilization of valuable mass spectrometry instrumentation, without compromising separation quality.
“These columns offer advantages the HDX community has needed for many years. We run cold to protect the deuterium label, but that has always come at the cost of higher pressure, longer methods and less time on the instrument. CHRONECT HDX LC Columns ease that trade-off, so laboratories can spend less time working around their chromatography and more time generating data they can trust,” said Stephen Coales, Global HDX Workflow Manager, at Trajan.
Lower backpressure can also reduce stress across the fluidic path, supporting more reliable daily operation and fewer pressure-related workflow interruptions. For contract research organizations, research laboratories and core facilities, this can help reduce turnaround times, improve project delivery and increase sample throughput using existing staff and instrumentation.
The columns are available in six formats, with internal diameters of 1.0 mm, 0.3 mm and 0.15 mm and lengths ranging from 50 mm to 150 mm. This range supports different workflow objectives, from robust everyday HDX analysis to higher-throughput and lower-flow applications.
CHRONECT HDX LC Columns also extend Trajan’s integrated CHRONECT HDX workflow, bringing together automation, chromatography, data analysis, workflow expertise and global support. When paired with Trajan's HDExaminer™ PRO, the columns support a more streamlined path from chromatographic separation through data analysis, helping laboratories move from samples to reliable, confident insights faster.
