The Austin facility is home to Trajan’s customer service and distribution centre for the Americas, as well as precision glass manufacturing and product assembly for some analytical product lines. This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional to be part of the Finance team in Americas.

The role

Reporting to the Financial Controller Americas, the Accountant – Compliance will assist in meeting all global regulatory and statutory obligations from a financial accounting perspective. It requires the extensive execution of detailed financial, cost accounting and transactional work. You will engage in financial accounting duties across multiple locations with an emphasis on Compliance.

To be successful in this role you require
  • At least 10 years’ experience working in a global supply and demand environment
  • Business Analytics and Intelligence - development and reporting
  • Knowledge of ERP system processes for demand, production and inventory control
  • Strong business acumen and customer focused
  • Ability to clearly articulate problem statement and drive to resolution
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, interpersonal and communications skills
  • Ability to identify trends and plan accordingly while maintaining consistent workflow and customer service levels
  • Solid organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize well.
  • Positively impacts the team and the organization by dealing effectively under pressure; remains optimistic and recovers quickly from setbacks
  • Shows a high degree of personal integrity, honesty and ethical behavior; respects and protects confidential information; holds self accountable for results
  • Highly proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Key responsibilities include

Tax and contract compliance:

  • Prepare and compile information to provide to external firm for federal and state tax returns.
  • Work closely with third party providers in order to review sales, payroll and excise tax filings.
  • Utilize and develop a basic understanding of various tax programs and tax software.
  • Prepare deferred tax calculations and GSA Contract Reporting.
  • Maintain Intercompany and Transfer Pricing transactions and setup, ensuring compliance with relevant policy.

Other duties including work within:

  • Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
  • Month End Reporting.
  • Payroll processing, benefit calculations and payment.
The ideal candidate will possess
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with minimum 3 years accounting experience in a global manufacturing company/li>
  • CPA qualification
  • Good understanding of GAAP and IFRS
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting package and proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, both independently and within a team
  • Ability to communicate at all levels

The role

This role will serve as a vital resource for Trajan Operations in the Americas by applying technical skills to optimize plant operations, resolve plant problems, and enable safe and efficient production of low cost, state-of-the-art quality products.

Key Selection Criteria
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • Demonstrated experience in commissioning new plant and equipment ensuring compliance with the plant operating permits
  • A demonstrated ability to implement mechanical improvement initiatives to address quality issues
  • Proven experience in introducing new developments in processes and machinery to optimise plant performance
  • Experience in applying continuous improvement and using lean tools for process enhancements such as Value Stream mapping, Kanban, Continuous flow and single piece flow to reduce scrap and meet task and cycle times
  • Be an excellent communicator who can articulate design to both technical and non-technical people
  • Be a strong self-manager that can multitask across concurrent projects

Trajan Scientific and Medical currently has an opportunity for a seasoned HR professional to manage its HR function in the United States. Reporting to the Global Human Resources Manager, this role is responsible for providing Human Resource, EHS advice and leadership to all Trajan facilities within the United States.

Trajan’s vision is to provide integrated scientific measurement devices to enrich the wellbeing of communities through science, with a robust acquisition history, including the recent acquisition of Soltec Inc, located in Bethel CT, USA. Trajan is continually increasing its global footprint. As a result the need for local HR resource management support is required.

Trajan’s expanding manufacturing footprint, include a new site in Penang (Malaysia), Melbourne (Australia), San Diego (CA, USA), Raleigh (NC, USA) and Austin (TX, USA), producing products and technologies that service the Global Analytical and Life Science markets.

This is a newly created role, and the key responsibilities of this role will be:
  • Sourcing skilled and talented people to meet the requirements of the business
  • Advise relevant managers on the recruitment process.
  • Assist in the on boarding process.
  • Assist with the development, management and implementation of US specific policies
  • Design and develop initiatives in support of the Global HR strategy
  • Assist in the administration of performance reviews

To be successful in this role you require:

  • Relevant qualifications, Bachelor’s level a requirement

  • Ability to provide HR tactical advice and mentoring
  • Knowledge of Performance Management systems
  • Good working knowledge of Workers Compensation
  • Knowledge of Safety & OH&S legislation
